Dak Prescott’s season is over. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback will undergo season-ending surgery on his hamstring.

During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Tuesday, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones revealed Prescott’s surgery plans, which ends any chances of him coming back in 2024.
“He’ll have it there in New York,” Jones said about Prescott’s surgery. “He had a good visit last night, and he wants to do that there, and he’s got great medical doctors up there. His prognosis is wonderful; it just means we’re not going to have him the rest of the year.”
Prescott, 31, suffered the hamstring injury in Week 9’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The second-team All-Pro quarterback suffered partial tendon avulsion, meaning his hamstring came partly off the bone. Instead of rushing a recovery, Prescott will have the surgery, which requires a three-month recovery period.
Prescott’s 2024 campaign ends with 1,978 yards passing, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
Expectations were high for Prescott after signing a record-breaking four-year, $240 million extension with the Cowboys hours before the first game.
Now, the Cowboys will be without the NFL’s highest-paid player the rest of the way.

Without Prescott, the Cowboys are in danger of their season going down the drain. At 3-6, the Dallas Cowboys face an uphill battle to climb back into playoff contention.
It all starts at quarterback, as Cooper Rush will make his second start of the season against the Houston Texans (6-4) on Monday Night Football.
Rush was terrible in Sunday’s 34-6 loss to the Eagles, completing 13 of 23 passes for 45 yards. Trey Lance also briefly came into the game and finished 4 of 6 passing for 21 yards and one interception.
The Cowboys signed Will Grier to the practice squad to have three quarterbacks on the roster.
