The Sunday Night Football matchup between the Cowboys and 49ers was expected by many to be one of the best matchups of the week. Instead, it turned into a night where San Francisco was able to put the league on notice in dominant fashion.
Late in the 42-10 win over Dallas, 49ers fans began to chant at the Cowboys — but it wasn’t (directly) trolling Dak Prescott’s brutal three-interception performance, or the fact that their team out=gained Dallas 421 to 197. Instead, it was because they wanted to see their team’s former quarterback, Trey Lance, take the field.

It certainly felt like the perfect way to troll a team the 49ers have dominated over the past two years, booting them from the playoffs in both 2022 and ‘21. But with their team rolling, why not call for the former first-round pick to see some playing time even if not?
Lance did not see the field, and only would have if something happened to backup quarterback Cooper Rush, who was inserted by the Cowboys in the fourth quarter. As Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reported prior to the game, Lance, who Dallas acquired via trade for a fourth-round draft pick, was the emergency third quarterback.
