South Australian health authorities are urgently contacting dozens of people affected by the loss of COVID-19 tests from one of the state's testing clinics.
SA Pathology confirmed that 72 test samples had gone missing from the Mount Barker clinic in the Adelaide Hills.
The clinic administers PCR tests and, under SA Health rules, anyone who has undergone a PCR test must isolate until receiving a negative result.
In a statement, SA Pathology said it was currently reorganising tests for those who have been impacted.
"We are investigating the location of 72 missing samples taken at Mount Barker on Monday," a spokesperson said.
"SA Pathology makes every effort to ensure specimens gathered across the state are effectively transported to Adelaide for processing."
A total of 7,031 PCR tests were conducted on Monday.
While the number fluctuates, SA Health regularly administers more than 10,000 tests per day.
Today, SA reported 1,723 new cases of the virus and the death of a man in his 80s.
