Turnover jumped at a concert promotions company, which has worked with acts including Take That, Spice Girls, Foo Fighters and Stormzy, after the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, new documents have revealed.

Stockport-headquartered SJM Concerts was co-founded by Chris York and Simon Moran and has also promoted concerns for the likes of Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Peter Kay, Billie Eilish, Adele and The Killers.

Mr Moran is also the owner of Super League side Warrington Wolves who published their own accounts in May.

According to newly-filed documents with Companies House, SJM Concerts achieved a turnover of £80.4m in 2021, up from £25.1m. It also went from pre-tax losses of £797,168 to profits of £4.3m.

The parent company of both SJM Concerns and Wolves, SJM Holdings, reported a turnover of £85.4m, up from £29.4m, and pre-tax profits of £4.1m, after making a loss of £880,668.

A statement signed off by the SJM Concerts board said: "Following the lifting of government restrictions in July 2021, SJM-promoted gigs recommenced and the final four months of the year saw a return to our normal level of activity and a successful trading period.

"Whilst strict restrictions remained in place, the company utilised government support where appropriate and made insurance claims on events cancelled by the pandemic.

"We are continuing to observe strong demand and interest by audiences for live music events and anticipate a successful year ahead."
