PHUKET: New Covid-19 cases had stabilised at 670-780 a day, with a decline in the number of infections detected in visitors, the provincial health chief said on Wednesday.
Dr Koosak Kookiatkul said that about 600 local infections were being detected each day and about 100 cases among visitors.
The infection rate for visitors had dropped from 160-180 per day.
He said 670-780 cases a day was considered stable. The figures did not include antigen test results. Antigen tests returned positive on 219 people over the past 24 hours, Dr Koosak said.
So far this year, there had been 41 coronavirus-related deaths in Phuket. The fatality rate was 0.16% of total cases. Most of those who died were elderly people with underlying illnesses, or people who were unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated, the provincial health chief said.
