Covid: Punjab begins vax for 12-14 age group

CHANDIGARH: The Covid-19 vaccination drive for the 12-14 year age group started in Punjab on Wednesday.

The drive was launched by principal secretary, health and family welfare, Raj Kamal Chaudhary at Civil Hospital in Mohali.

Chaudhary stated that on the recommendation of an expert group of the Centre, only Corbevax vaccine would be administered to the beneficiaries of this age group.

Two doses of this vaccine are to be given after a gap of 28 days. Punjab has a target to vaccinate 8.65 lakh population of this age group.

Dedicated vaccination sessions will be established for this particular age group.

Chaudhary also disclosed that Punjab state has covered 96% of the eligible population (18 years and above) with at least one dose of Covid vaccine and more than 72% population is fully vaccinated. The principal secretary also appealed to the general public of the state to follow Covid appropriate behaviour to ward off any chances of the fourth wave.
