The public inquiry into the Covid pandemic has been delayed by two weeks out of respect for the national mourning period following Queen Elizabeth II's death.
Announced in 2021 by the former prime minister Boris Johnson, the inquiry officially launched in July 2022 - over two years after the first nationwide lockdown.
It has the power to call witnesses, including ministers and senior officials, to give evidence under oath and compel the production of documents.
