COVID lab leak theory advocate is in line for Fauci’s former role

Covid-19 Anthony Fauci

Dr. Steven Quay, a pharmaceutical executive, is reportedly poised to become the new director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Quay is known for advocating the theory that COVID-19 originated from a leak at a Chinese lab, a view he has expressed in his books.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reportedly selected Quay for the position, with federal health officials signing off on the decision last week, though final vetting is ongoing.
Despite his background as CEO of Atossa Therapeutics and inventor of several FDA-approved drugs, Quay does not possess formal training in infectious diseases.
He is set to take over the role previously held by Dr. Anthony Fauci , who served for nearly 40 years before stepping down at the end of 2022.
