DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand, which has been reporting around 300 cases of Covid-19 daily on an average so far, after a steep rise in mid July, reported 221 new cases on Wednesday, as well as two deaths. With 1,485 active cases, the positivity rate stands at 9.79%.
Dehradun, which reporting slightly less cases than before, still continues to account for the bulk of infections, with 100 people having tested positive in the state capital on Wednesday.
Hill district Rudraprayag, gateway to Kedarnath, had the second highest number of cases, at 33. Popular tourist destination Nainital followed with 25 cases.
A total of 13,83,100 have been administered the booster dose so far in the hill state.
"We urge people to come forward and take the booster dose as early possible, as it will reduce the impact of the disease. There has been a spike in cases in the past 10 days and only vaccination can keep it at bay,” said health minister Dhan Singh Rawat. “With the festive season almost here, people should act responsibly in these times. We need to be careful," he added.
Meanwhile, 363 persons recovered on the day and the recovery rate now stands at 94.66%.
