COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Monday, April 25.

Queensland

Two more people have died with COVID as the state recorded another 4,639 cases.

There are 478 people in hospital with the virus, 12 of those are in ICU.

There are 46,828 active cases in Queensland.

NSW

New South Wales has recorded four more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 1,631 cases in hospital, 64 of those in intensive care. 

There were 7,985 new cases announced today.

Victoria

There have been another four COVID-19 deaths in Victoria.

There are 441 cases in hospital, with 31 of those in intensive care and nine of those requiring ventilation.

There were 7,643 new cases reported today. 

Tasmania

Tasmania has recorded 867 new COVID cases, down from 936 yesterday.

There is one person in ICU and 43 patients in hospital with the virus. Ten are being treated specifically for their COVID symptoms.

There have been no new deaths.

Northern Territory

Another 333 COVID infections have been identified in the NT in the latest reporting period.

The number of known active cases across the territory has fallen slightly, to 3,310.

One person is being treated for the virus in intensive care, and 51 people are hospitalised in total.

South Australia

There have been six deaths and 3,175 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today.

The deaths include a man in his 70s, two men in their 80s, two women in their 80s and a woman in her 90s.

There are currently 28,113 active cases in South Australia with 247 people in hospital including 11 in ICU.

Western Australia

Health authorities in WA have today confirmed the death of a man aged in his 80s from COVID.

The state has recorded 5,639 new cases, with 240 people hospitalised with the virus.

Nine people are being treated in intensive care.
