COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Thursday, April 7.

Victoria

There have been another four COVID-19 deaths in the state.

There are 283 cases in hospital, with 12 of those in intensive care and two requiring ventilation.

There were 12,314 new cases across Victoria today. 

New South Wales

New South Wales has recorded 16 more COVID-19 deaths in the latest reporting period. 

There are 1,437 cases in hospital, 48 of those in intensive care. 

There were 22,255 new cases announced today across the state.

Queensland

Another seven deaths were recorded in the state and 10,984 new cases were reported.

There are 444 people in hospital, 17 of those are in ICU.

The state has 60,130 active cases.

Western Australia

The state has recorded 7,998 COVID cases overnight.

Three historical deaths were added to the state's COVID-19 toll.

Tasmania

The state recorded 2,365 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths.

There are 43 people in hospital, one of those in the ICU.

There are 12,799 active cases.

ACT

The ACT has recorded 1,094 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.

There are 49 people in hospital with the virus, with three people in intensive care and two requiring ventilation.

Of Canberra's children aged five to 11, 80.4 per cent have received a single dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 73.9 per cent of Canberra adults have now received a booster.

There are 5,514 active cases in the territory.

South Australia

South Australia has set another daily COVID-19 case record, with 6,091 people testing positive for the virus yesterday.

There are now 35,984 known active cases of the virus in SA.

Three people with COVID-19 have died — a woman in her 90s and two men in their 80s.

There are 210 people with coronavirus in hospital, including 12 in intensive care.

Northern Territory

There are 24 people with COVID-19 hospitalised across the NT. One person is in intensive care.

The territory has recorded 513 new cases in the latest reporting period

It means the number of known active cases is just under 3,000.
