An ACT man accused of involvement in a bungled hotel robbery at Tarago has been refused bail.
Alexander Baudinette, 42, of Watson, ACT, was not required to enter a plea when he appeared via audio-visual link before bail court on Friday, July 10. He appeared from custody with his arm in a sling.
He has been charged with two counts of specially aggravated enter dwelling with intent - dangerous weapon.
Baudinette was extradited from the ACT on Thursday, July 9 after appearing in the ACT Magistrates Court.
Police allege that Baudinette and a 38-year-old man, also from the ACT, broke into Tarago's Loaded Dog hotel at about 8.15am on Wednesday, June 24, wrapped straps around an ATM and tried to pull it from its footings using a vehicle.
The men allegedly fled in a white hatchback when disturbed.
Police also allege they were involved in a second break-in on Braidwood Road at Tirranaville at 9.40am the same day.
Officers pursued the car on Braidwood Road but subsequently abandoned the pursuit due to safety concerns.
The men were arrested after police said they crashed the car on Foxes Elbow Road, Warri.
They were both treated by paramedics before being taken to Canberra Hospital for further treatment, under police guard.
In court, Baudinette's solicitor, Rosemary Benet, did not apply for bail on her client's behalf.
She said Baudinette sustained back injuries, broken ribs, a broken scapula, and a broken sternum and requested that his warrant be endorsed for continued medical attention.
The police prosecutor pointed out that Baudinette's offences were "strictly indictable".
Acting Judge Ellis endorsed the warrant for Baudinette's medical treatment, formally refused bail, and adjourned the matter to Goulburn Local Court on September 16 for mention.
Baudinette's alleged accomplice was released from hospital on June 25 and extradited to NSW. He was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of specially aggravated enter dwelling with intent, and remains before the court.
