Couple who started business in horse box open new cafe in Leeds with blue coffee

A couple who started their business in a horse box have now opened a café in Leeds.

Matt Pease-Bower and Georgia Milner opened the doors to Humbl coffee on July 1 and have proven to be popular already. The coffee shop is a sustainable spot which aims to encourage people to drink coffee in an eco-friendly way.

Like many new businesses opening, the couple had a conversation in lockdown about their dream of opening up their own shop. Matt has ran bars and cafes for over ten years and always dreamt of owning his own, and Georgia has a background in marketing so she could help him promote it.

They fixed up an old horse trailer and turned it into a coffee station - parked up in a bay in Meanwood - to see if customers liked what they were serving. After the business became popular and their brand recognisable they decided it was time to open a store where customers could sit and enjoy their hot drinks and goodies too.

The pair launched a Crowdfunder page and raised £4,000 towards two coffee machines. Humbl coffee has now opened in Monk Bridge Road, Meanwood, and has proven to be a success, and they even made the shop signs themselves.

The outside of the shop is painted in an electric blue to match their brand, and customers can even get blue-coloured coffees. After a much-anticipated wait for their opening this year, queues of people were spotted outside the coffee shop on opening day.

On the menu there are a range of speciality coffees and teas to choose from. What's more the vegan-friendly menu includes delicious cookie sandwiches - two cookies with Nutella inside - said to make customers "die and go to cookie heaven", flapjacks, lemon drizzle cakes, and more.

The venue is dog-friend and there are treats for pups too. Earlier this week, Matt said: "It’s mad to think we’ve been open over a week now.

"It feels like only yesterday all our mates were dropping in to help with the shop fit. So glad we can finally offer them somewhere to sit down and chill out. Well… as chilled as they can be!"
