A furious couple have slammed holiday giants Tui after a suitcase was lost twice during their dream holiday to Jamaica.
Sara Bloor had flown out to the Caribbean island with husband Adam to properly celebrate her 40th birthday, which had been during lockdown.
Once they arrived, the couple discovered their suitcase had been lost - but it was then located and they were told it would be flown out to them.
But after spending a day waiting at the airport for her bag to arrive, they left empty handed as it had again been misplaced, meaning Sara had to splash out nearly $100 on a top and flip flops, Stoke Live reported.
Sara, a deputy headteacher, said: “It’s been horrendous. For my 40th birthday, I had it in lockdown.
"We said as soon as we can go away for my birthday that’s what we’ll do, and we’ll make a big deal of it.
“I’d bought myself a brand new dress for my birthday, which was in there. Most of the case was new stuff, new eyelashes, new make-up that I’d bought as well.
"It’s got my sunglasses, brand new dresses, shoes. I can’t get those things here without paying an extortionate amount of money.
“I’ve tried to put on a brave face, but you can see everybody down here, they’re all in nice pretty things, nice floaty things and getting dressed up for the evening.
“I travelled in leggings, I’ve got my trainers on, and a T-shirt. That’s as much as I’d got when I arrived.”
Sara's bag was also lost in an earlier trip to Dubai, but on that occasion the missing case was recovered and with them in 12 hours.
Trainee teacher Adam, 34, spent the holiday calling TUI to try and track down the missing case.
He added: “We woke up in the middle of the night to say that TUI had messaged us to say that the case had been located at Manchester Airport and was going to be on a flight to Montego Bay, arriving at 1.30pm Jamaican time on Thursday.
“We thought brilliant, at least we’re getting a couple of days out of it. We got to the airport at about two o'clock. We left about half-four going on five, no case arrived.
“We’d wasted the whole morning as we’d been on edge anyway, then we’d waited all afternoon. We paid $35 for a taxi to the airport to collect the case. It’s just another absolutely appalling horrendous day.
“After all that, it wasn’t there at all. It’s just another nail in the coffin really. They haven’t even sent me a phone number when I've asked. There’s just absolutely nothing.
"Twice in one holiday. They shouldn’t be selling holidays if the problem is so bad. It's just been awful."
It is understood that the couple have been offered a refund for their lost baggage.
A TUI UK spokesperson said: "We’re very sorry to hear of Mr and Mrs Bloor’s experience.
“We can confirm that our team are investigating this further, and we will be in contact with the customers directly with an update."
