A couple have raised more than £30,000 for charity after walking 200 miles across Wales by pushing each other in a wheelie bin. It took youtubers Craig Holmes, 34, and Aimee Bannister, 33, 17 days to travel from Anglesey to Cardiff in a bin last month.
They battled blistering hot weather, mountain terrain and exhaustion - but in the end were able to complete their journey. Aimee, from Barry, south Wales, said: "We wanted to do something to support a cause close to our hearts and the bin idea just came to us.
"It was a hard journey, but with each others support we made it."
The pair, who go by the name 'Kinging-It', set off on July 15 to raise funds for mental health charity bigmoose after losing a friend to suicide. They took it in turns pushing each other between 15 - 18 miles a day across their home nation, stopping at campsites in their renovated school bus along the way.
Each day Craig and Aimee travelled for around eight hours in total, navigating along a route made up of cycle paths and the odd stretch of road. They had a support vehicle who would feed them during meal times and another van who would follow them on to main roads to protect them from traffic.
The pair negotiated the vast terrain of the Welsh countryside, even tackling the Brecon Beacons during one stint of their trip. They finished their journey in Cardiff on July 31, and have so far raised £33,000 for bigmoose - smashing their original target by almost double.
Aimee said: "We have known about bigmoose from the beginning and their mantra is leaving the world better than you found it. We love what they stand for, and having lost a friend last year we decided we wanted to raise money for their cause.
"When we set off, we didn't really have much of a plan other than just to push each other until one of us got tired and then switch. The most difficult part of the journey was the hills and mountain gradient.
"Wales is super hilly and we travelled across part of the Brecon Beacons over the heatwave which was complete torture. All in all the route was about 200 miles, but, apart from some nasty blisters, we managed quite well.
"We had the name of the friend we lost on the front of the bin in lights. We wanted to remember her and carry on her legacy of speaking up and speaking out if you need help."
Craig and Aimee started their Youtube channel 'Kinging-It' in 2014 and now have 210,000 subscribers. They also have a travel vlog where they document their unique trips across the globe.
The couple are no strangers to a crazy challenge, and, in 2018, they drove from their home in Barry to Russia in a fiat - which took them 72 days. You can donate to Craig and Aimee's Just Giving page.
