A married couple are opening a 'dog bakery' in Leeds train station, offering a range of home made dog treats.
Owners Arran and Liam Giles, 32 and 30 respectively, are bringing The Barkery to the city centre railway station after being approached by the railway network. They create all the products they stock for dogs, including all the treats and beauty products.
Arran and Liam, from Nottingham, started the business two years ago during lockdown. They saw a gap in the market as they couldn't find suitable treats for their French bulldogs who had dietary requirements.
The pair have have kiosks in shopping centres across the UK but this will be their first time opening their own a standalone shop.
Arran said: "Come and see us and bring your dogs, with it being one of our only stores which are dog friendly and come and have a friendly chat with us in the store.
They sell their own take on a doughnut for dogs. These come in a variety of flavours from Bacon to Peach to Sunday Roast. Not forgetting that they’re all free from the following: Wheat, Grain, Meat, Gluten & Dairy.
They also sell 'Wuffles', waffles but for dogs, topped with handmade dog chocolate and covered in a crumb.
The Leeds shop will also have the following products that other stores don’t have: Bag packs for dogs; Customisation station to have designs and names printed on hampers, t-shirts and hoodies; and a toy station, toys that are made from plastic bottles recycled from the ocean and also toys such as StarBarks cups.
The shop will be opening on Friday, September 16, at 7.30am.
