Couple married for 33 years among the most stylish spotted in city centre

The Manchester Christmas Markets have brought droves of people from across the UK to the city centre to sample bratwurst, mulled wine and mini Dutch pancakes. This week, we've been chatting to people from Glasgow and Huddersfield about their outfits for the latest edition of Steal Their Style.

But it's a husband and wife from Wigan who stole the limelight with a fantastic couples look made up of classic British brands like Fred Perry and Dr Marten's.

Meanwhile, a mum-of-six lokked stunning in a seventies style getup, while a 60-year-old shopper donned a leopard print dress, looking equally as dazzling.

Shoppers have been having to wrap up warm, as the Great Mancunian weather has seen downpours on market visitors over the last two weeks. We've seen a lot of big coats out and about, and more scarves creeping in too.

One teen shopper managed to wrap up for a bargain price, including saving around £150 on a pair of Uggs by opting for a Primark dupe, and snapping up a North Face fleece in the charity shop for £6.

So let's start Saturday with a little fashion inspiration with this weeks' Steal Their Style. Here are our top picks of the best dressed at Manchester Christmas Markets this week. Let us know your favourite look in the comments below.

Rebecca MacKay

Rebecca, from Glasgow, was in Manchester visiting friends, and had stayed in a hotel in advance of checking out the Christmas markets. She wore a vibrant yellow scarf with an oversized coat and some stunning boots from Zara - but she got them for a real bargain.

The 25-year-old said: “My scarf was a gift and my coat was also a Christmas present, but it was originally from Warehouse. The dress is old Topshop, and the boots are Zara but I got them in TK Maxx. I paid £17 for them. I’m becoming quite the bargain hunter.”

Rebecca admitted she likes a bit of colour to brighten up an outfit, and has been trying to shop less, opting for quality investment pieces instead.

She added: “I try not to shop too much, I'm very conscious of that now. I don't want to buy things just to wear them once. I like waiting until the gifting season. I've not spotted anything to put on my Christmas list this year yet but I'm sure I will.”

Lauren Whittle

In the city centre to see Westlife, Lauren Whittle was checking out the Exchange Square markets while wearing a silky dress layered over a knit.

Lauren, 29, from Burnley, bought the dress from Tesco in the sale. It was meant to be £40 but she snapped it up for the reduced price of £20.

She said: “I'm drinking today but you can wear this dress for work too. I like pieces I can wear over and over for different events and occasions. I usually wear a lot of black because it goes with everything. I do have a lot of clothes but a lot of it are pieces i can mix and match.

“If you have a nice, new outfit it can make you feel really good - and it’s always better when you've got it in the sale, too as you can be a bit smug about it.”

Lauren paired the dress with some £30 New Look boots and a Boohoo coat that was £40.

She added: “I like the high street and the supermarkets are really underrated, Sainsbury’s have some really good clothes.”

Anne Hurleston

Leopard print loving Anne, 60, was celebrating her husband’s birthday with a trip to Manchester from Cheadle Hulme.

She looked fantastic in a dress from independent boutique Stella Forest, which featured a midi length, red braided belt and little red cuffs.

Anne added: “I don't tend to wear a lot of prints, but as I've got older I buy less and go for more quality pieces. Zara and whistles are my favourite places to shop.

“My coat is from Zara, bag is from Longchamp, and my boots are from Marks and Spencer.”

Fashion lovers will be thrilled to know that the boots are new season, and they come in a variety of colours.

Anne added: “I’m on Instagram and like looking at the independent shops. I think I get my style from my mum, she was quite stylish, too.”

Nicky Humphries

Mum-of-six Nicky Humphries loves a 70s vibe, and has passed her fabulous style on to her four boys, and two daughters, too.

The 56-year-old, from Altrincham, is a huge fan of the city, and loves to come to the city centre for the vintage shops. She said: “I love Manchester. I love the whole vibe and that everything isn't under one roof. I think it’s fabulous from the Northern Quarter to Deansgate.

“I love vintage stuff which I buy a lot of in the Northern Quarter and Afflecks.”

Nicki wore a Bieber jacket with some H&M flares and i£40 boots from Moda in Pelle that have just gone into the sale. Her jumper is a vintage piece which she bought from Cow on Oldham Street.

She added: “I’ve wrapped up today but I like 70s shirts and flares. I really liked Farrah Fawcett Majors back in the day - she was quite cool.”

Billie Lambert

Dance student Billie takes inspiration from famous choreographers for her oversized street style look, including Royal Family’s Parris Goebel and Brian Friedman.

The 19-year-old, from Huddersfield, got her outfit at a bargain price, including a North Face fleece for £6 in a charity shop.

She said: “These are the Primark Ugg dupes that I paid £4 for, then I’m wearing Urban Outfitters cargos which I paid £45 for with student discount. The North Face jacket is from a charity shop for £6, then I got this jacket from Zara in the sale for £10.

“All together it’s quite a budget outfit. I love a bargain especially being a student - the cost of living is horrific, especially because I haven't got a student loan this year.”

Billie loves a baggy look which helps her feel confident. She said: “The baggier the better, which probably comes from my background of dancing. It makes me feel confident because I'm not worrying about people looking at me.

“I also love to look at Jennifer Aniston for inspiration - she’s my childhood superstar and she’s gorgeous.”

Yvette and Antony Patton

Married for 33 years, Yvette and Antony bond over their love of classic British brands - and bands! Yvette, 53 and Ant, 55 met when Yvette was 18, with music bringing the couple together through nights out - now, they head out to gigs together, and look extremely cool in doing so.

I caught the couple, from Wigan, doing some Christmas shopping ahead of heading for a few drinks, wearing pieces from Dr Martens, Fred Perry and Levi’s.

Yvette said: “My dress is from Fred Perry, and I’ve worn it with my Mr Martens and coat from Marks and Spencer.”

While Antony added: “My Crombie is from Warrior Clothing, scarf is Fred Perry, shoes are Dr Martens and my jeans are Levi’s.”

The husband and wife duo love to listen to bands like The Specials, Madness, The Cure and Depeche Mode, with a fashion sense inspired by the 60s Mod scene.

Antony added: “We have a similar style and like to go to the same sort of shops, I'm probably a bit more narrow minded than Yvette, but we love ska and punk stuff inspired by music.”
