Man dies after house fire that killed his fiancee

A man has died following a serious house fire less than a fortnight after his fiancée died from her injuries from the same incident.

Cheshire Police said Kieran Naylor, 33, died at 8.45pm on Monday, December 26. His death came after his fiancée Rebecca Foster, 32, died on December 14 following the same fire.

A force spokesman said the couple suffered serious injuries during a blaze at their home on Delph Lane, Daresbury, in the early hours of Monday, December 12. They were taken to Whiston and Warrington hospitals in a critical condition.

The location of the gun used to murder Elle Edwards on Christmas Eve is still on the streets and its location remains a major focus for detectives.

At a media briefing next to the cordoned off Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey Village, where the 26-year-old was shot in the head on Christmas Eve, Merseyside Deputy Chief Constable Ian Critchley blasted the "coward" who unleashed multiple shots into a crowded area.

Detectives say they do not believe beautician Elle was the intended target of the gunman and that she was hit by shots fired at someone else. Four other men were wounded in the attack, including a 28-year-old man from Beechwood who was described as being in a critical condition.

When to put your bins out as Wirral strikes are called off

Bin wagons are back out on the streets of Wirral after strikes were called off at the last minute.

More than 200 Biffa employees on the outsourced Wirral Council waste collection contract were set to escalate their industrial action with strikes over the key period between Christmas and New Year and again in January.

Having already carried out a period of strike action earlier in December, Biffa staff who are members of the Unite union were set to walk out again from today (December 28) until Saturday December 31. The plan was for more strikes to then be held between January 3 and 7 and January 16 and 21.
