Country star Megan Moroney exits stage in tears as she abruptly cancels show mid-performance

Megan Moroney left the stage in tears Tuesday night after becoming too sick to perform.

The “Tennessee Orange” singer, 28, was performing at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado, as part of her ongoing Cloud 9 Tour.

Moroney made it through just three songs — “Stupid,” “Medicine” and “Bless Your Heart” — before emotionally informing fans that she was not able to continue the show.

In fan footage posted on social media, the country music star tells the crowd: “I am obviously extremely sick, and I thought I did everything to make myself better, and obviously, two songs in, I just can’t play this show tonight.”

“I want to give you guys the show you deserve; I’m probably going to go cry in my dressing room now,” she continued, before breaking down in tears.

“I’m sorry,” she added as fans cheered and reassured her it was OK.

On social media, Moroney received overwhelming support from her fans. “Omg her crying makes me wanna cry:(( i love her so much,” one fan commented on a clip of her announcement.

“She went out there and tried to perform even though she was sick for her fans. We don’t deserve her,” added another.

“I [don’t know] who this is but the courage to get on stage and make this announcement is incredible,” wrote a third.

Later that evening, Moroney shared a statement on her Instagram Story with more details about the show’s rescheduling.

“Denver – That was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make & I’m so sorry to cancel the show tonight,” she wrote. “I never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and by song 3 I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you tonight. I’m typing this as I’m quite literally bawling my eyes out in my dressing room & it hurts me so much to disappoint you all.”

She added: “I will be back August 27, and all tickets purchased for tonight’s show will be honored for the new date. If you can’t make the rescheduled date refunds are available at the point of purchase. I’ve never had to do this & I’m truly so sorry. I love u guys. Megan.”

Moroney is next set to perform at Portland, Oregon’s Moda Center on Saturday, August 1. The Cloud 9 Tour, in support of her third studio album, Cloud 9, kicked off May 29 in Columbus, Ohio, and will conclude on October 1, 2026, in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
