Seeking a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Cabinet colleague and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that not even a single person in India would remain poor if Mr. Modi is re-elected for a third term.
The Union Defence Minister was addressing a ‘Kisan Mahakumb’ in Raipur that had farmers from across Chhattisgarh in attendance.
“Twenty five crore people of India have come out of the poverty line, brothers and sisters. Till date, this has never happened in the history of India. I am not saying this, it has been said by Niti Aayog that 25 crore people have been pulled out of poverty and I assure you that this time you should ensure the government under the leadership of Modi ji is formed. Sisters and brothers, we will not let even a single person remain poor in India,” said Mr. Singh said citing a NITI Aayog report.
The Union Minister also said that every poor person would get a proper house and piped water supply will reach every house in rural India.
Hailing the Prime Minister for initiatives for farmers such as the Soil Health Card scheme and Kisan Samman Nidhi, Mr. Singh pointed out that fertilizers were being made available to farmers in India for prices way cheaper than in developed countries such as the U.S. He called Chhattisgarh “Kisano ka Garh” or land of the farmers and underlined the pivotal role upliftment of farmers played in the development of the State.
Accusing the Congress of ruining the State, Mr. Singh said that the development of the State had gone off track during its rule.
