The Sailors’ Safety is an old smugglers’ pub that dates back to 1593. Rumour has it Dylan Thomas used to pop in but today, the white-washed, weathered pub is mainly visited by red-faced ramblers and salty-haired beach goers.
The menu is simple and refined with a selection of small plates and main courses to choose from. The focus is on locally sourced, Pembrokeshire seafood — lobsters delivered straight from the boat to the plate, that sort of thing — and a lot of ingredients are foraged from the nearby shores and hedgerows, of which there are plenty. The bar, with its wood-panelled ceiling and dark wooden beams, is transportive, to times of yore.
