'Counter-Strike 2' Update Brings Back Classic Train Map With a Remade Look

Valve just brought back the classic Train map and overhauled it to join the roster for Counter-Strike 2 as a "60% cloudier" area.

This particular map is arguably one of the oldest and most beloved maps in the entire history of the franchise. The sweeping update describes the changes made to Train as being a "full visual overhaul."

Counter-Strike 2's Train Map

The developer supposedly changed the layout of the iconic map so that it would encourage more tactical gameplay on top of just taking advantage of a sniper rifle. The Train map was known for being a relatively bright map that featured a derelict trainyard.

Valve seems to be trying to shake things up a bit in Counter-Strike 2 by giving the area a brand-new look. The first thing that players would notice is that it is now raining. This makes a lot of puddles and reflections throughout the area.

You will also now find graffiti on large tankers and there is visible rust on these iconic map features as well as cracks in the concrete. But the main difference now is that the Train map has wider sightlines compared to before, according to Rock Paper Shotgun.

The Old Train had previously a lot of narrow spaces between train carts that were usually camped by snipers. But Valve has decided to make these sightlines a little bit wider which should give players a chance to engage in more varied gunfights.

A Visual Overhaul

The changes to the iconic map are still relatively new which means that there is still a lot of discussion on whether or not they are ready for the competitive scene. A lot of people are currently saying that the map still needs quite a bit of work before that time.

Valve's release of the classic Train map coincides with one of Counter-Strike 2's new map guides for players. This helps people learn the common strategies that are usually used for any particular map, PCGamer said.

The map guide for Train features four simple grenade strategies that players on the Terrorist team can use during their matches. If you want to try out this guide, you can go to Play, Practice, and then toggle Load Map Guides on.

The return of the Train map comes more than three years after it was officially taken out of the competitive map pool and one week after Valve first teased its comeback, according to Eurogamer.
