Calling all Countdown fans! Colin Murray has been named as the interim host of the daytime TV show after the departure of Anne Robinson.

The former Weakest Link star Anne, 77, announced she’d be quitting the Channel 4 show after one year in the role after she made history as the first woman to take on the role.

Robinson took over from The Apprentice’s Nick Hewer on the show in 2021, after much speculation over who’d take his place after 10 years at the helm.

Now, Colin will be fronting Countdown until the end of the season.

Here’s everything you need to know...

Who is Colin Murray?

Move: Colin Murray takes over from Adrian Chiles

Colin Murray, aged 45, is a Northern Irish TV presenter, radio presenter and writer, who is best known for his work heading up Match Of The Day 2 on BBC Two.

In May, he took to Twitter to announce his new role on Countdown, saying: “I’m like the assistant manager, given the job until end of season.

“Earn respect of dressing room (@susie_dent @RachelRileyRR), get some points on the board, try to win a trophy! 75 games to get it right!

“Absolute honour. Fav show ever. July 14 to start of Nov.”

Prior to his work on Match of the Day 2 and Countdown, Colin, 45, has also presented radio shows on BBC Radio 5 live, as well as Talksport, among others.

From 2013, he hosted the 10 am to 1 pm slot on TalkSport, however, he quit the station in 2016 following a takeover by News Corp.

Is Colin Murray married and who is his wife?

Murray is married to Carly Paradis, who is a Bafta nominated Canadian-born British composer, songwriter and pianist.

The couple got married in 2012.

Carly composes soundtracks for movies, TV series and her own albums, with her most notable works including The Line Of Duty theme and the Innocents on Netflix.

She was nominated for a Bafta TV Craft Award this year for best original music for Line Of Duty series six.
