Maitland City Council has scrapped the sale of a Clift Street park after its general manager apologised for errors in council's land records, but not before an extraordinary meeting descended into bitter exchanges between councillors.
Councillors voted unanimously on Tuesday night to rescind the July 21 resolution to sell the block, after the council's legal advice found it was community land and could not be sold.
