Council staff backflip on park sale after legal advice finds land can't be sold

In an extraordinary backflip council staff will recommend its councillors vote to rescind the sale of a much loved patch of community green space.

Maitland City Council is set to abandon its bid to sell the Clift Street parkland at the centre of a months-long community campaign, after fresh legal advice found the land was never legally transferred to council and cannot be sold under law.
