Council agrees further £1.1 million funding to restore Hexham's high street

Hexham High Street Historic England Northumberland County Council

Northumberland County Council's ruling cabinet has agreed to pump more than £1.1 million into a key project in the Tyne Valley.

Members agreed to fund an additional £1.1 million for the Hexham High Street Heritage Action Zone to deal with extra costs due to inflationary pressures.

The project aims to revitalise Hexham's town centre and make it a "more attractive, engaging and vibrant place" with many town centre buildings currently standing empty and have a "run down" appearance.
