Could the Browns really trade backup QB Jameis Winston?

After an impressive preseason performance yet again by quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, there are reports that the Cleveland Browns will explore trading the other quarterbacks, Tyler Huntley and Jameis Winston.

The news comes after Thompson-Robinson was told that he officially has made the 53-man roster entering the regular season. With the confidence and experience that he has displayed so far, the Browns seem comfortable with him if he were to be the second-string quarterback.

The reasons to keep Thompson-Robinson are obvious, but keeping Jameis could be just as important. Winston has brought incredible energy to the team with his pre-game speeches, races in practice against Mike Vrabel, and press conference quotes. His mic’d up moments so far from this preseason show that he has become a quick favorite among Browns players.

Huntley is the quarterback who was always most likely to be moved first out of all of Cleveland’s quarterbacks. His contract did not provide any security after this season and did not have the same experience or skillset as Winston. The Browns continue to make many roster moves and this will be one to watch over the next few days.
