The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of decisions to make on contract extensions. Kirk Cousins, Danielle Hunter and Justin Jefferson could all receive them over the course of the next few months, but the latter is the one who could truly break the bank.
During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said he believes that contract is likely to be at least $30 million per year.
“So I would totally anticipate the Vikings at some point in the relatively near future approach Justin Jefferson about big-time money, but I would be surprised at this point if that if that contract doesn’t have a three in front of it in average per year,” Pelissero said.
This lines up with what I believe the contract will be. I predicted back in November that Jefferson would sign a three-year, $96 million contract, which would be an average of $32 million per season. That would be a record for a non-quarterback, and it would be well deserved.
