Pittsburgh Steelers fans everywhere are sitting around just waiting to see if the team is going to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada. This is a move most expected during the season and after a late-season rally seems less likely than before. Nevertheless, one of the names being rumored as a potential replacement should Pittsburgh opt to move on from Canada is current Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC and former Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich.
There are rumors circulating that Leftwich is set to be fired by the Bucs after Monday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Leftwich was hired at the Bucs OC in 2019 and up until this season seemed to have the magic touch. His offenses were consistently in the top three in scoring and were no worse than seventh in yards. But the wheels fell on in 2022 due to a multitude of factors including injuries.
If Leftwich could recapture his pre-2022 magic, he might be the perfect guy to get the Steelers offense to the next level. Leftwich is well-known to Steelers fans as he was on the team from 2010 to 2012.
Should the Steelers fire Canada and Leftwich is suddenly on the market does he before the top target to replace him? Let us know in the comments below.
