Cot bumpers, baby pillows and other sleep products that could put babies at risk

Families are being warned that some popular sleeping products promoted on social media could potentially put babies at risk.

A survey of over 4,600 new and expectant parents, carried out by The Lullaby Trust, found 67% of people follow celebrities and influencers who have babies. Just over half of those who follow influencers said they do so for parenting tips or baby product recommendations.

However, over 1 in 3 parents had bought a product which doesn’t fit with safer sleep advice, including cot bumpers and baby pillows, after seeing them on their Instagram and Facebook feeds.
