It turns out that there is more to Costco than meets the eye.
As well as walking out with a gazebo, eight tubes of toothpaste and a few moreish pies, you could also make big savings on a new pair of specs.
Customers have been praising the money-saving deals they’ve snapped up after browsing the warehouse’s optical offerings. Alongside its spectacles, many warehouses including Gateshead, have an optician to test your eyes too.
Patients must be Costco members and should be ready to present their membership card. Costco is also happy to take NHS patients and will accept prescriptions from other opticians.

Customers are able to choose from a wide selection of designer lenses as well as contact lenses and premium branded technology lenses. Fans of the warehouse have praised the deals, with many saying they were able to make big savings.
On the Costco Appreciation group, one shopper said that she was able to save £80 on a pair of designer Ray Ban frames. Another praised the store, saying “Costco are way better value than high street and they only use top quality lenses”.
Many have commented on the quality of the lenses that are optimised for driving. “I no longer use sunglasses when driving since they somehow remove the glare/eye fatigue from sunlight,” commented one happy customer.
Comparing them to other high street brands, it seems that Costco comes out on top for this group of shoppers in service and quality as well as price. “I've been to them and ordered two lots and they were amazing and worked out pretty much the same as Specsavers. But got a better quality of lenses and actually cared more.”
Other members commented on the speed of the service, with glasses only taking a few days to be ready for collection.
Memberships at Costco are available from as little as £26.40 a year for traders, business owners and members of certain professions and companies. Check out the Costco website to see if you qualify and how to apply for membership.
