Costco customers praise staff for helping man who fell ill at warehouse

Customers at the Costco warehouse in Avonmouth have praised staff for their quick thinking when trying to help a man who fell seriously ill in store. Staff on shift on Sunday afternoon (June 4) had to use a defibrillator, before ambulance crews arrived on scene.

In a Reddit post the following day, one customer wrote: "A man had fallen seriously ill in Costco yesterday afternoon. The staff responded amazingly and revived him with a defibrillator before he was air-lifted to hospital. Well done to the brave staff and their quick thinking. I hope the man makes a full recovery."

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust said: “We were called to an incident in the Avonmouth area.

"We sent a double-crew land ambulance, air ambulance, critical-care car, rapid-response vehicle and hazardous-area response team. One individual was taken by land ambulance to Bristol Royal Infirmary.”

Bristol Live contacted Costco. It said 'management has no comment at this time'.
