Cost of living deals: Get money off Pizza Express, Beamish Museum and John Lewis this week

It's a mixed bag of deal this week, from European rail travel to bus trips to Beamish Museum, so hop aboard and strap yourself in for a bargain.

If eating out is more your thing, we've half-price pizzas and a kids' meal for £1 next time you go to the pub to keep you happy.

1. Sizzling Pub

Starting with that pub offer. Save yourself the bother of cooking and head down to a Sizzling Pub to get your kids fed for just £1 Monday-Friday 3-7pm. There's loads in our area, including The Plough Inn at Killingworth, The Highwayman at Whickham and The Hollymere at Grangetown, Sunderland. See this list for all of the pubs near us. The deal is one child's main meal for £1 per adult, so two adults would be able to claim two £1 kids meals. There are the usual suspects - burgers, fish fingers etc - on offer as well as some slightly more unusual choices such as chicken curry or mini mixed grill. And if you sign up to the Sizzling Pubs newsletter, you can save yourself an extra fiver off the bill.

2. Pizza Express

Grab yourself a rare 50% off most pizzas at Pizza Express restaurants this month. The offer is running now and finishes on Sunday, May 29, so you've got plenty of time to get a slice of the action. To claim this deal, you'll need to download the Pizza Express Club app for free and sign up to become a Club member. You'll need to check-in to the restaurant and enter your table number when you get there. When you're ready to pay, choose the 50% discount offer within the app. This offer is not redeemable on the Calabrese and Calzone pizzas, but all others, including gluten-free and vegan pizzas are in the deal. The deal will save you at least £6. The offer is redeemable at all Pizza Express restaurants and can be claimed any day up to May 29. There's no minimum spend, but it's limited to one per member, per day, so if there's two of you, you'll both need to be Pizza Express Club members. Eat-in only.

3. Beamish Museum

There's always something new to see at Beamish Museum, but did you know you can save 25% off a standard individual Beamish Unlimited pass if you travel there on a Go North East bus? The deal is part of Go North East's link-up with local visitor attractions with some decent savings to be made. Other deals include free children's tickets with a paying adult at Seven Stories in Ouseburn. Full details of what's on offer are here. Remember to check the individual rules for each venue - for instance, advanced booking of Beamish entry timeslots is required in order to aid social distancing. Go to www.beamish.org.uk to book.

4. Smiggle

All children love Smiggle stationary and school stuff, so here's a chance to save a fiver next time you visit a store or buy online. Sign up to Smiggle's VIP club and you could get a free £5 spend for your child's birthday. You'll get 20% off just for signing up, but your £5 reward will be sent out on the first of the month, so you'll need to sign up over a month in advance. You won't get change from the reward, but as there's no minimum spend you could potentially get something £5 or less for free. The offer's valid until the end of the birthday month, and you can only sign up one child per account.

5. Interrailing

This next deal isn't exactly an impulse buy, but if you're planning on going interrailing this summer, make sure you buy your tickets before midnight tonight to save 50% off one, two or three week passes. Interrail Global Passes give you unlimited travel on national railways and some ferry lines within 32 European countries (excludes the UK) over a certain period of time. The deal is to mark its 50th anniversary, and it has been extended until tonight. These passes aren't cheap, so 50% is a huge saving. If, for example, you plan to spend two months travelling and you're under 27, you will pay £230 for your ticket instead of £461. First class is also available, and you've got 11 months from the date you buy it to start using it, so it's worth thinking about it even if you don't plan to travel until early next year.

6. John Lewis

Another big ticket saving is with John Lewis, who are giving away a £100 John Lewis e-gift card free if you buy selected electricals before the end of this month. See here for the full list of eligible buys, starting at £499.99. To qualify for the reward, you need to a member of the My John Lewis ' loyalty scheme which is free and instant to join when you sign up online, and you must be logged into your John Lewis online account, and have your My John Lewis member number registered to that account. Then, make a qualifying purchase online. Once you've made your purchase, you have to wait and remember to claim your e-gift card on this John Lewis claim page between Tuesday July 5 - Tuesday July 19 - they don't make it easy! Once claimed, your voucher will be emailed to you within seven days and is valid at John Lewis and Waitrose online or in stores for two years.
