Prices in shops have shot up 2.7% compared to last year, marking their highest rate of inflation for more than a decade according to new figures.
April’s retail prices have felt the impact of rising energy costs, as well as the brunt of Russia ’s ongoing war with Ukraine, with no sign of it falling any time soon, says the BRC-NielsenIQ Shop Price Index.
Shop price annual inflation accelerated to 2.7% in April, up from 2.1% last month.
