A traditional British witch has revealed the cost-of-living crisis has even struck the magical world, with wannabe witches using cut-price saucepans as cauldrons and birthday candles for spell-casting. Alexa Thompson, 32, is well known for her special powers where she lives near John o’ Groats in the Scottish Highlands.
She has practised witchcraft for 23 years after learning respect for the natural world and “country ways” from her father and grandfather. Despite feeling that there has always been a “make do and mend” attitude in traditional witchcraft, she has seen an increase in her following asking how to start practising on a budget.
Alexa is now on a mission to help people realise that magic doesn’t have to break the bank. She suggests using an inexpensive Italian herb mix which can be used for money spells.
