Coronation Street's newest couple have been told they are the 'future' of the ITV soap - despite some complaining about their on-screen romance. Viewers have seen Hope Stape and Sam Blakeman take their friendship to the next level by deciding they are boyfriend and girlfriend.
During Monday night's trip to the cobbles, the friends revealed that they had become an item and their proud parents beamed about them becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. Hope's mum and dad Fiz and Tyrone Dobbs cooed over the pair as they sat together on the sofa before heading off on a date to the cinema
Sam, played by Jude Riordan went all out sporting a suit for the occasion while Hope, played by Isabella Flanagan, showed her disgust as her proud parents tried to get a snap for the memory box. And as she continues to wrap Tyrone around her little finger, the mechanic then paid for the tickets for their first date - and the confectionery to chow down on while watching the movie.
While they wouldn't let their on-screen parents take a picture, actors Jude and Isabelle did pose for a behind-the-scenes snap from filming of their first date. Taking to Instagram, Jude posted the image and said: "Sam & Hopes first date." Meanwhile Isabella, whose twin brother also stars in Corrie as Joseph Brown, shared the same photo and shared a sweet message to her co-star.
"First date with my best mate in the whole entire world!!! @justjude7," she wrote. And fasn were rushing to comment on both posts. @garrysmargetts said: "What a lovely couple, i hope Corrie lets this relationship blossom." @randomladbwfc commented: "Super cute together, hope you are both together for along time!"
@mpb_17___wrote: "The future of Corrie I hope both of you stay until your older." @margy_1954 shared: "Nice to see this storyline.Hope is a complicated charecter but so is Sam..I think its going to be very interesting watching these 2 together.I do actualy think they will be good for each other.w brilliant young actors."
@luke_man_city__and_scfc added: "Those are gonna going make coronation Street and be the future and probably get married in it 20 years from now I bet."
Some Corrie fans are even going as far as saying that they’ll become as iconic as the soap's legendary couple Jack and Vera Duckworth. @Samanth22356123 tweeted: "Sam & Hope in 50 years #Corrie," alongside a crying laughing emoji and picture of Jack and Vera.
Others, however, aren't quite as convinced on the storyline. @gray_cale said: "Stop forcing children to behave like adults." @liz_l_j wrote: "Usually at this age they just have crushes, not go on dates. Don’t make them have adult behaviour yet." @abrina_p_786 added: "No! No! No! Get Sam away from Hope. She is not a good influence. Possibly the worst there can be. She took a hammer to school - twisted."
