Corrie star Ryan Prescott reveals scene fans didn't see during acid attack horror

Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott has revealed there was more from the acid attack scenes that viewers did not get to see, due to timing restrictions.

Ryan Connor had sulphuric acid thrown at his face and body in harrowing scenes on Monday night, in an attack that was meant for Daisy Midgeley.

Her stalker Justin took action against her on her wedding day, but Ryan got caught in the crossfire as he tried to save Daisy.

Ryan had no idea what had happened initially or what it was that was thrown at him, until his skin began to burn.

Speaking about the scenes, actor Ryan has revealed there was a moment of "reality" that was missed out of the final edit, that showed events between the initial attack and the moment Ryan experienced pain.

He revealed that an unaired scene saw Ryan realise the situation wasn't as he'd predicted as he ran out from behind the bar, to get Daisy away from Justin.

Ryan was shown trying to work out what had happened in the missing scene, which was cut due to the time restrictions of the episode.

But the actor said it didn't need to be seen, and that the sequences worked without it.

He explained to The Mirror and other press: "There are a few seconds where you wouldn't know what it was, it takes a couple of seconds for sulphuric acid to set into the facial tissue and start eroding.

"There was a moment that we shot where Ryan kind of gathers that this isn't what he would have assumed.

"Although, it went straight into the action on the final edit so we did miss a little bit of that edge of reality that people probably don't need to see, and there's always a time restriction on these things.

"The final edit was fantastic, they did everything they could to be honest."

He added: "He probably would have thought it was vodka or something in the moment because it is very difficult to anticipate this level of hate and violence, and we don't really like to look at these things for the fact that one person could do this to another."

The actor also discussed the makeup and prosthetics used to replicate his character's burns and wounds, following the vile attack.

Ryan explained: "The colouration has to be done every time by hand, every time I come in. There is around 15 people in the makeup team that will have to get used to putting it on.

"It was about an hour in the chair at the beginning and an hour to get it off. The hardest thing to do is match it with continuity, so they are having to match not just the colouration but the placement too, they've got a huge job but they are smashing it."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
