Coronation Street’s Kevin Webster is set to lose it on the ITV soap next week as he commits violent criminal damage to a car on the cobbles.
Kevin (Michael Le Vell) could be in trouble as a result of the incident as he savagely takes a wrench from his garage to a Jaguar car amid a highly stressful day.
The car belongs to Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) and has been at the garage for repair, but falls victim to Kevin’s anxiety ahead of Abi’s ( Sally Carman ) imminent return with baby Alfie.
In addition to this, Kevin is suffering further anxieties as his son Jack (Kyran Bowes) is being bullied at school.
Jack admits that he isn't looking forward to Abi and Alfie coming back, as Kevin barely has time for him as it is.
Jack's complaints coincide with a busy time at the garage, so Kevin is grateful when his new employee Aaron (James Craven) offers to ease his workload by fixing Stephen’s car.
However, he later learns that he apparently hasn’t done a great job, as Stephen soon returns to the garage and lets rip because the car broke down again.
As Aaron leaves following a phone call, Kevin is left to deal with the angry fashion magnate.
An overloaded Kevin tries to placate Stephen, as his phone keeps ringing with updates from Jack and Abi, who both need to talk to him.
When Stephen angrily threatens to take his business elsewhere, Kevin loses his temper and smashes up the car with a wrench.
Later that day, Abi returns to Coronation Street and pays a visit to Number 13 ahead of her permanent return home, gushing over how much she's looking forward to moving back home tomorrow.
Kevin hides his anxiety, failing to mention that he wrecked Stephen's car.
The following day, Kevin prepares for Abi's homecoming, but is shocked to come face-to-face with two police officers at the door.
Is Kevin now facing charges? And can he keep what happened from Abi?
Actor Michael Le Vell has spoken about the dramatic Kevin scenes ahead of the storyline, saying he “has been trying to spin too many plates.”
The actor told Metro : “He has been focusing on Abi, running the business, taking on Aaron at the garage and trying to teach him and then this arrogant Canadian who he doesn’t really know comes in demanding his car be fixed, he needs to be at Jack’s leaver’s speech day and everything comes to a head.
“He also has the issue with Jack playing up at school everything gets on top of Kevin and he just flips his lid.”
Mike added: “He is terrified that social services will find out about what he has done and that isn’t exactly the right sort of environment for Abi and Alfie to move into so he wants to try and make it all go away without Abi or social services finding out.
“The enormity of what he has done is not lost on him. He tries to sort it without telling Abi but of course keeping secrets is probably the worst thing he could do especially with everything they have been through.”
