Coronation Street’s Amy Barlow will be forced to choose between her new bad boy love interest Jacob Hay and her family on the soap after her dad and boyfriend came to blows.
Amy (Elle Mulvaney) had been keeping her relationship with former drug dealer Jacob (Jack James Ryan) a secret, knowing her family would disapprove, but when Amy was spiked during a night out, Jacob was forced to spill the beans.
While Jacob was initially accused of slipping something in Amy’s drink, it was later revealed he had potentially saved his girlfriend’s life by quickly putting her in the recovery position.
However, this wasn’t enough to make Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and Tracy (Kate Ford) happy about the relationship.
Protective dad Steve became determined to separate the secretive teens and took matters into his own hands to end their relationship, but a conversation quickly became a punch-up when Jacob mentioned Steve's late son Oliver during the showdown.
ITV spoilers have now revealed that the future of Amy and Jacob’s relationship will come to a head next week on the soap.
The drama kicks off on Monday, March 14, when Tracy reveals her plans for some mum and daughter time, leaving Amy because she’ll have to cancel her secret night with Jacob.
In the bistro, Tracy orders sambuca shots and flirts with a man at the bar leaving Amy very unimpressed.
Having summoned Steve to take Tracy home, Amy despairs as she’s forced to spend time with Steve instead.
In later scenes, Amy tells Jacob she’ll try and swerve her parents so they can meet up later. But Amy’s ruse hits another snag when she tells Steve she’s off to see Emma (Alexandra Mardell), who has reluctantly agreed to cover for her, only for Steve to reveal he’s just seen Emma on her way to the tram station.
Caught in a lie, Amy dashes out to tell Jacob she can’t see him as her dad’s at home, leaving him to head off, fed up.
In scenes on Friday, March 18, Amy decides to arrange lunch in the bistro with her parents, but when she arrives with Jacob in tow, their jaws hit the floor.
Tracy threatens to leave but Steve points out that Amy is an 18-year-old, so can see who she wants.
With the meal over, Amy and Jacob admit they’re in love, but how will Steve and Tracy react?
They’re then horrified when they see Jacob punching Simon outside and Steve turns to Amy to give her an ultimatum, telling her she needs to choose between Jacob and her family. What will she do?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
