Corrie's Yasmeen fights to clear Stu's name as street turn against him after prison stint

Coronation Street 's Yasmeen Nazir will attempt to help Stu Carpenter clear his name next week following his prison stint.

Stu (Bill Fellows) was arrested for murder during last Wednesday’s episode on the ITV soap in very dramatic scenes. Yasmeen (Shelley King) learnt of Stu’s arrest for Charlie’s murder through his ex-wife Lucy, who believes he was responsible for her murder after discovering the pair had an affair.

Stu then confessed to the crime after his DNA was found all over the young woman – but now maintains his innocence after a devastating wrongful conviction. New ITV spoilers reveal that next week viewers will find out that Stu was coerced into making a confession and will be released from behind bars.

During next Monday's episode as Zeedan (Qasim Akhtar) and Alya (Sair Khan) sort through the case files, they come across Stu’s interview tapes. Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) points out that Stu was questioned for over 10 hours which is against the rules and that there’s also a tape missing.

Alya visits Stu in prison but they’re interrupted by the arrival of her grandmother Yasmeen and once Alya leaves, Stu tells Yasmeen the whole story of his affair with Charlie. Later on, Yasmeen tells Zeedan and Alya how Stu wants them to talk to his solicitor, Norman, who confirms that Stu was coerced into making the confession.

Alya then puts pressure on Yasmeen to allow Stu to move back in as it’s clear he’s innocent and has nowhere else to go. A couple of days later, as Stu heads out of the prison gates, he’s shocked to find Yasmeen waiting for him.

In Victoria Garden, Yasmeen tells Stu that she believes he is innocent and asserts that he must let Bridget know his intentions. Stu reluctantly agrees as he's unsure of how Bridget will react and when he returns to the street, he's met with hostility from Dev and Bernie.

However, Yasmeen comes to Stu’s rescue and tells him that he’s moving back in with her at No.6. A few days after, Stu apologises to Kelly as Tim warns him to stay away from Yasmeen.

But Kelly soon confirms that Stu is back living at No.6 and that Yasmeen is helping him to clear his name, leading Tim and Elaine to beg Yasmeen to think twice about helping him. Feeling under pressure, Stu offers to pack his bags and leave No.6 but Yasmeen points out that running away will only make him look guilty.

Will Stu decide to stick around and let Yasmeen and her family help him prove his innocence? Or will the drama be too much for him and force him to flee Weatherfield?
