Coronation Street’s Wendy Crozier returns to the cobbles next week on the soap, ITV spoilers have now confirmed.
The character was last seen in 2012 and had been in a relationship with Weatherfield legend Ken Barlow when she worked as a council source for him when he was a journalist.
Wendy’s character, played by Roberta Kerr, is now returning to Weatherfield in amongst the drama surrounding Abi and Alfie.
Wendy returns on Friday, June 17 as Debbie implores Kevin to think carefully before taking on Alfie.
Jack overhears how Kevin had an affair with Molly behind Tyrone’s back, resulting in his birth, leaving him struggling to take it all in. But Jack still wishes Abi and Kevin good luck at the hearing.
In the court waiting room, Abi slags off the judicial system to a woman nearby. With the custody hearing about to start, the Judge takes her seat, leaving Abi horrified as she realises it’s the woman she met in the waiting room.
Believing she’s ruined any chance she had, Abi listens as the local authority solicitor lists her failings as a mother and recommends that Alfie remain in care. Is Abi set to lose Alfie all over again?
The Judge orders that Alfie be placed with Abi in a mother and baby foster facility where she will be assessed.
Abi is then introduced to the one and only Wendy Papadapoulos, née Crozier, who is their foster carer.
When Abi reveals she’s from Coronation Street, Wendy keeps her counsel.
This comes after Coronation Street icon Bill Roache has teased a possible romantic storyline on the ITV soap as Wendy returns.
Wendy’s character is now set to cross paths with her former flame, Bill confirmed during a recent interview on Loose Women.
The 90-year-old soap veteran told Denise Welch during an interview that he recently received the new storylines in a batch of seven scripts.
Denise had asked: “Do you think there’s still time and you still have a desire for Ken Barlow to find a great love again?”
Bill teased: “I’ve got two ex-girlfriends, Rula Lenska - who plays Claudia Colby - and Wendy Crozier, and they’ll be back in a few weeks.”
He continued: “It’s lovely to go over all that. The great thing about Coronation Street is not many things have been going for 60 years so you can just draw on its own history.”
Speaking to the former Corrie star, he added: “You know, you remember what it was like. It can draw on itself and it's a happy group.”
The full details of Wendy’s returning storyline are still a mystery, but a source recently told The Sun: “Wendy was run out of the cobbles by Ken ten years ago after she tried to rekindle their affair and she’s stayed away.
“But this summer she will make a comeback as a social worker involved with another street resident and end up bumping into her old flame.
“Has Wendy changed or will she want to get her claws back into Ken?”
