Corrie's Lucy Fallon reveals horrendous pregnancy symptoms like 'worst hangover' ever

We have followed Lucy Fallon’s journey in the spotlight from the start of her career on Coronation Street. And now we’re delighted as the actress tells us she’s 22 weeks pregnant!

The 26-year-old and her footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson already share their adorable Pomeranian Sushi, who’s wearing a cute heart around her neck reading, “We’ve been keeping a secret.”

“We’re really excited,” says Ryan, 25, who plays for Championship club Preston North End. “I’ve always wanted to be a young dad so I can be active with them.”

However, the couple’s excitement has also come with some anxiety, as Lucy sadly suffered a miscarriage in March.

“It was a traumatising, horrendous time,” she tells us. “We went for a scan and they couldn’t see anything, so then we went to the hospital and they thought they could see something, so it was very up and down.

“I had pregnancy symptoms and I was feeling really unwell. There were no signs I’d had a miscarriage, so that made it more of a shock. We just assumed everything was going to be fine. Then after a week when they’d done the blood tests and other tests, I went back and they said I’d miscarried. It was a really strange feeling.

“Even though so many people go through it, you never expect it will happen to you. I had imagined this little person who was going to come into our lives and then they were taken away from me. It was really horrible to deal with, but thankfully Ryan was so supportive.”

“We were both quite down about it,” adds Ryan. “But [staff at] the hospital were so good. Even a few weeks after they were still in contact making sure we were OK. It’s not a nice experience for anyone to go through. I didn’t realise how common it was until I spoke
to people I was close to and asked for their advice.”

But the couple say the experience made them realise that starting a family was something they truly wanted and ultimately ended up bringing them closer together.

“That changed things and it made us realise that was definitely what we wanted,” says Lucy, whose due date is 2 February. “Situations like that can really test your relationship. It made us closer and stronger.”

And the pair, who have been together for nearly two years and met on celebrity dating app, Raya, say they were surprised Lucy became pregnant again so soon afterwards.

“We’re very fortunate that it happened again for us,” says Lucy, who played Bethany Platt on the Cobbles for almost five years. “We weren’t putting pressure on it and I wasn’t putting any pressure on myself, then it just ended up happening that way for us. It was just meant to happen.”

She continues, “We’d been to the Maldives and the day before I was due to come on I had a feeling I was pregnant. I did a test and the line came up straight away. I actually told my mum before Ryan! I FaceTimed her as I felt like my eyes were playing tricks on me. Then Ryan came home and I was holding the test in my hand and I just said, ‘This has happened!’”

“It was a bit of a surprise coming back from training to that,” laughs Ryan. “I was a bit shocked because of what we went through. But we’re made up and it felt like the next stage for us.”
