Amy Barlow will get her fire back on Coronation Street - as her struggles continue to grow after being raped.
The character was raped by Aaron in harrowing scenes on the soap earlier this year, with Amy - played by Elle Mulvaney - too drunk to consent. Aaron, meanwhile, continued on and later insisted she wanted it as much as he did.
The devastating scenes left fans of the soap horrified, whilst Amy has been struggling, seeing everyone get along with Aaron too as well as noting how he's managed to keep his job and continue working whilst she struggles alone.
Actress Elle has revealed Amy finds it "tough" and might never get closure from it.
Speaking to Metro, she said: "It’s a tough one. It’s hard to say whether or not closure is entirely possible for someone who’s gone through this, because this is something that she’s always going to live with.
"Even if she does come to terms with it at some point, it doesn’t mean that she’ll ever be fully over it because it’s traumatic, and she has to learn how to live with it and how to deal with it herself and become a new person on the other side of it. It’s difficult to say."
However, Amy will get her "fire back" and her confidence will grow over time.
She added of what was to come for Amy on the soap: "We’re going to see Amy gain a lot more confidence over the subject. I feel like she will take control a bit more. We’ll see a bit more of Amy’s fire coming back."
Actor James Craven - who plays Aaron - recently admitted he found his character's latest plotline hard to handle at the beginning.
"I think that's what I struggled with in the beginning, because it was always clear to me that what he's done is wrong," James explains to new! magazine, "But I had to try and think about everything from his point of view."
He added: "The reason that he reacts and defends himself in the way that he does is because he truly believes he's innocent. As an actor you have to try and find a way to rationalise why he does what he does because he's not an evil character."
