Coronation Street aired a double killer confession that not everyone saw coming on the ITV soap on Friday night, as Rick Neelan's murder was finally confirmed.
The hour-long episode kicked off with Gary Windass, Rick's killer, attempting to get to the body and move it before it was discovered.
Rick is buried on the site where builders are doing works for the new County football training ground.
Gary was thwarted by a security guard and he soon accepted his fate, when Rick's ex Laura Neelan confronted him.
Her private investigator had told her there was no trace of Rick, so he was likely dead.
After going missing three years ago, the investigator suggested Rick had been killed - and it was likely Gary was the culprit.
It all got too much for Gary when Laura told him what she knew and demanded the truth about missing Rick, who is the father of her daughter Kelly.
In a shocking move, Gary admitted to the crime to Laura and shouted: "Alright, you want the truth, I killed him."
He then explained that it was self-defence and that Gary was the one who was meant to die, with Rick also wanting to kill his then-girlfriend Sarah Platt and her children.
Laura didn't exactly believe him despite knowing what Rick was like, and was furious - while she was also worried about what the truth would do to Kelly.
Gary begged her to let him speak to his partner Maria before she called the police and she agreed, determined that he should face justice.
Shortly after, Laura left the flat and overheard Kelly say she had hope for the first time in ages, after being taken in by Gary and Maria.
This seemed to change Laura's mind about grassing up Gary, and instead she made a huge and life-changing decision.
As Gary prepared to tell Kelly the truth, he and Maria headed back to the flat to speak with Laura only to see the police outside.
Gary feared the worst, only to see Laura being led away in handcuffs leaving him confused.
As Kelly asked the officer what they were doing, he explained they'd arrested her for the murder of her dad Rick.
Kelly begged her mum to tell them they had got it wrong, but the sobbing character instead covered for Gary and told Kelly she was sorry.
She said: "I'm so sorry love, I had to do it for your sake. I am so sorry."
Laura was then put into the back of the police car after she gave one final look at a stunned Gary, who realised she was taking the blame for his crime.
But with Laura dying, will she take the secret to the grave or will she end up revealing the truth to Kelly?
