Corrie first look as Adam Barlow suffers deadly fall as Lydia takes final act of revenge

After weeks of torment stalker Lydia Chambers takes her final revenge on Adam Barlow in Coronation Street.

Bunner boiler Lydia, who dated Adam at university, made a shock return to her ex's life in December when she befriended his wife Sarah.

It was clear Lydia was rattled by the sight of Adam and he fuelled her annoyance by claiming not to remember them dating.

It was recently revealed that Lydia was behind the persistent anonymous phone calls, a bogus tip-off to firearms police who stormed his office and a bouquet of flowers with a menacing note.

After plotting to destroying both his marriage and career, shocking first look pictures show Lydia taking a final act of revenge.

As the truth about their past comes tumbling out, a heated row ensues but when an emotional Lydia lashes out at a seemingly unrepentant Adam, a violent shove sees him falling over a first floor railing crashing onto the floor below.

As a bloodied and unconscious Adam lies on the ground, viewers will be left wondering if he has paid the ultimate price for his past womanising ways, and if Lydia might finally be unmasked to Sarah and the police.

These dramatic Coronation Street episodes will air on Monday March 21.

Last month actor Sam Robertson told the Manchester Evening News and other press that his dramatic Fatal Attraction-style storyline had left him feeling the need to 'recalibrate' after six years of playing Adam on the cobbles.

Asked if he would like to see Adam stay with Sarah, played by Tina O'Brien, after their marriage was rocked by the arrival of Lydia, played by Rebecca Ryan, he said: "I don't know about that. I don't know."

Sam, 36, who previously played Adam the son of Ken Barlow’s late daughter Susan and his late arch-enemy Mike Baldwin in 2004 and came back in 2016 Following Ken’s stroke, admitted he thought about 'hanging up his suit' as solicitor Adam and sought the opinions of Weatherfield legends David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper, and Jimmi Harkishin, who plays Dev Alahan.

"I speak to a lot of the guys here that have been working here for 20, 15 years like David Neilson and Jimmi Harkishin - I had a scene with him today.

"And I'm like 'do you ever have those moments in which you think 'I could do with maybe hanging this character's suit up on the coat hanger for a little bit?'

"And they're like 'oh yeah it happens' because I think as an actor you're used to working on different characters."

He continued: "I've not played another character in over six years in my career now.

"I feel like at the minute coming through this really big storyline I definitely feel I need to recalibrate a bit and find out what this character is all about.

"I feel this storyline the confusion Adam is feeling I'm kind of feeling the same confusion myself as an actor in terms of who is this character I'm playing now, it's very different from what it was six months ago or 12 months."

Asked if he thought Adam and Sarah's marriage can survive he said: "I don't know.

"It's a conversation that I would like to have with the writers, Tina, and Iain the producer.

"You literally don't know what's around the corner.

"I've only got 10 episodes ahead of me in my head so I don't know if it will be the end of Adam and Sarah."
