Coronation Street's Gary Windass appeared to get away with murder yet again on the ITV soap on Friday, just as Rick Neelan's body is finally going to be recovered.
Villain Rick went missing three years ago with Gary the last person to see him alive - while viewers, and few residents, know that he actually killed him and buried him in the woods.
It was self-defence and Gary was the one who was meant to die, with Rick also wanting to kill his then-girlfriend Sarah Platt and her children.
Rick had taken him to the woods to murder him and bury his body there, but Gary managed to free himself and killed Rick first.
Since the crime in 2019, Gary has got away with this and the factory roof collapse that he caused, which claimed the life of Rana Habeeb.
While suspicion has fallen on him numerous times over both crimes, Gary has managed to keep people quiet and has kept out of prison.
Along the way he's faced moments of possibly being caught, with having to move the body, to finding ways to conceal what he had done.
But it all came to an end on Friday night as Laura Neelan learned the truth about what happened to her husband, and the father of her daughter Kelly.
In a shocking move, Gary admitted to the crime to Laura and shouted: "Alright, you want the truth, I killed him."
Gary begged her to let him speak to his partner Maria before she called the police and she agreed, determined that he should face justice.
But as Gary prepared to then tell Kelly what he did, the trio headed back to the flat to speak with Laura only to see the police outside.
As Kelly asked the officer what they were doing, he explained they'd arrested her for the murder of her dad Rick.
Laura was then put into the back of the police car after she gave one final look at a stunned Gary, who realised she was taking the blame for his crime.
Now some viewers believe Laura will take the blame and then sadly pass away, with her suffering from a terminal illness.
While some predicted the guilt might get to him, others reacted to the fact Gary could be about to get away with murder yet again three years on from the plot beginning.
Many said it wasn't exactly justice, but many were impressed with the twist.
One fan said on Twitter : "Tired of soap killers getting away with murderer or dying before they are brought to justice."
Another agreed: "OMG can't believe Gary actually gets away with it yet again FFS."
A third fan wrote: "Corrie never saw that coming, so basically Gary gets away with murder, literally."
Meanwhile another fan said: "So... no comeuppance for Gary causing the collapse of the roof of Underworld then?"
