Coronation Street fans were baffled on Friday evening as Audrey Roberts' son Stephen Reid returned to the ITV soap after 15 years.
The latest episode of Corrie saw actor Todd Boyce reprise his role in dramatic fashion as he found Audrey unconscious in the salon.
Audrey (Sue Nicholls) had fallen over the previous evening and had been laying trapped underneath a motorbike all night, as her family discussed how to tackle her drinking problem.
Stephen was the one to find his mother after arriving at the salon to see Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) trying to get in.
He ended up breaking the door in and was stunned to find his mother collapsed on the floor.
Stephen was then reunited with the Platt family as an ambulance arrived for Audrey, and was furious that his mother was left alone all night without anyone noticing.
Gail Platt (Helen Worth) looked stunned that Stephen was back, but he wasn't impressed with his sibling at all.
"Never mind me, what about mum? How have you let this happen? None of you even noticed she was missing?"
He then climbed into the back of the ambulance as the paramedic confirmed that only one of them could go with Audrey.
However, viewers were more interested in Stephen's accent as opposed to Audrey fighting for her life.
Taking to Twitter, one person posted: "WTF is that accent #Corrie."
Another said: "Stephen thinks he's in an 80s action film #Corrie."
A third tweeted: "Ok his voice is going to irritate the [angry face emoji] out of me, please don't give him many lines lol."
And a fourth joked: "Stephen not wasting any time in showing off his vocal range."
Someone else wrote: "Uuum! Stephen's acting is a bit OTT. You're not in Dynasty mate."
Stephen is the biological son of Audrey but she was forced to give him up for adoption after his birth.
Stephen was adopted by Malcolm Reid and his wife Joyce Reid, and they later emigrated to Canada, which explains his accent.
He made visits to Coronation Street in 1996, 1997 and 2007, with Gail's family paying him visits in Milan from time-to-time.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
