Coronation Street fans are in for a DNA shock next week on the ITV soap, as Alya Nazir receives new information on Stu Carpenter's case.
ITV soap fans were shocked when it was revealed that popular character Stu (Bill Fellows) had done prison time for the murder of the young waitress, who he had been having an affair with.
His ex-wife Lucy Woodrow (Lynda Rooke) revealed the shocking details to Yasmeen (Shelley King) after Stu had tried to make contact with his daughter Bridget Woodrow (Beth Vyse).
However, Stu has since protested his innocence and fought for Yasmeen to believe him, prompting her grandchild Alya (Sair Khan) to seek out the truth as she looks into the case.
Next week, Stu is becoming close with his daughter Bridget again as she meets Yasmeen in the Rovers.
Yasmeen guesses that she and daughter Eliza want to continue seeing Stu, but his ex-wife Lucy is dead set against it. Secretly, Yasmeen tells Alya and Stu that the pair are coming round the next day, but they'll keep it from Lucy.
Stu is thrilled by the news after recently meeting his granddaughter for the first time.
Bridget and Eliza enjoy a brunch with Yasmeen and Stu, but a question from Eliza about her granddad's time behind bars proves too much for Bridget, and she runs out into the garden.
Stu follows her to comfort her, letting her know how angry he was at being jailed for something he didn't do – but he's soon left reeling by Bridget's shocking revelation.
Dee-Dee, meanwhile, leaves Alya a voicemail explaining that the DNA results are due tomorrow.
Stu is left feeling lighter at Bridget's admission, but Yasmeen is struggling with the news. Dee-Dee pops into Speed Daal to tell Alya the results are finally in, leaving the businesswoman shocked by what she hears.
Coronation Street actress Channique Sterling-Brown recently joined the soap as Dee Dee Bailey in Weatherfield.
The lawyer, who is the daughter of Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) and Aggie (Lorna Laidlaw), made a friend in Alya on the ITV soap, as the pair dig into Stu’s case.
Actress Channique said ahead of her debut: “Dee Dee is going to be a lot of fun, a lot of chaos but in a good way. They're delving into Stu's case and seeing if he can be exonerated.
“I think that's going to be really exciting for us because it's such a big storyline and gripping. It's two young women [playing] detective and I am excited to see where it goes.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
