Coronation Street fans have branded Steve McDonald an "idiot" for punching Jacob after Amy's spiking horror.
Steve, played by soap stalwart Simon Gregson, has been left fuming after he found out his daughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) had been spiked in horror scenes and instantly blamed Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan) after what happened.
Amy has been keeping her romance with the former drug dealer a secret, but Steve was left fuming when he found out what had happened to his daughter - and that Jacob was there when it did.
So when the pair crossed paths in the hospital during tonight's episode, Steve saw red.
However, fans tuning in to watch the scenes unfolding were left frustrated by Steve's mistake.
"STEVE U F***ING IDIOT #Corrie," one wrote, as a second added: "#Corrie Steve is a idiot don't think he will ever change."
A third shared: "Steve wtf are you doing you idiot #corrie," with a fourth writing: "As if Steve just punched a kid.. #Corrie."
Another fan called Steve "silly", whilst someone else said it "was totally out of character for Steve", but hailed his punching skills as they added: "What was that punch though. #Corrie."
Actor Jack previously explained what makes Steve see red.
"Amy’s drink has been spiked and a lot of fingers are pointing at Jacob which is understandable given his past with drugs. All Jacob wants to do is see Amy but Steve wants him to have nothing to do with his daughter," he said, opening up on that moment.
"Jacob is being persistent and he brings sandwiches and crisps for Steve and Tracy to try and help. Steve asks Jacob to leave but Jacob is pleading with Steve to let him stay. Steve’s son, Oliver, is mentioned so Steve sees red and punches Jacob."
He added: "Jacob is totally shocked by this; he is totally surprised and didn’t expect Steve to do that. Jacob is so disappointed because now he knows at this point, it’s going to be near impossible to win them over. But Jacob is going to continue to fight for Amy."
