Coronation Street alum Jack P. Shepherd had a "lovely" exchange with a fan who said they had autism earlier, after they commented on the actor's latest social media post.
It came after the actor, 34 - who is best known for playing David Platt on the ITV soap opera - posted a series of selfies on Instagram to showcase that he's had a haircut.
Jack shared the photos of the fresh style with his 388,000 followers on the platform, writing in the caption of the post: "New hair, don't care anymore. New me and new year."
The post prompted responses from some of his followers, including a fan who wrote in the comments section that they were autistic and didn't have any friends of their own.
They wrote to Jack: "Hope you are ok and well. I am now sure how to say this but my name is Ian. I have autism and I don't really have any friends or people to talk to or go around with."
The fan added: "I was wondering if you would like to be friends with me. I know you will have lots of friends but I am hoping that you will be able to help me and be friends."
Although Jack hasn't replied to other comments on the post, he took the opportunity to respond to Ian's message, writing: "I hardly have any friends either Ian so I'll be friends with you".

His interaction with the fan prompted responses from other followers, with one saying he was "too cute". Another said "well done," whilst a third wrote: "This is lovely."
And the actor's comment led Ian to express gratitude for the response, with him subsequently writing: "Thank you for your lovely kind words. Means a lot to me."
Jack had further showcased his hairstyle in a video on his Instagram Story this afternoon, posted on the platform around the same time as the selfies were uploaded.
The video shows the actor and podcast host filming himself in a mirror as he models his hairstyle, with him saying: "For those asking, so no one, new haircut." Jack then laughs.
Fans have complimented the father-of-two over the new style. One person wrote: "New hair looks great." Another said he was "looking good." A third said: "Looking mint."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
